October-ness

Ah. Theres nothing better than feeling the first chill of fall! This month is one of my favorites. To me its getting ready for the holiday season! That means decorating, parties, and fun traditions to be had! Its safe to say that we Halloween-ed it out pretty good this year!

Our new thing is poker nights! No real gambling. But I had to capture this moment, Ashley was in the middle of eating a Twix candy bar and it was her turn. It just looked too perfect! 

We finally refinished our buffet!!! Took us super long to get around to it, but I got it done this month. I really like the way it turned out.

The Stake Primary Halloween party! I was in charge of the all the decorating and I really tried to make it look good. I was really happy with the way it turned out! I had a lot of help and thanks to all who made it look so cute!

Two Year Anniversary!

I think we've got it down, this married thing. We are both very happy and very much still in love! I think the relationship we have grown into is such a beautiful thing. We are at a very different place now then where we were a year ago. Steve is almost graduated, and our lives will be changing very soon! This guy keeps me sane through all the changes and helps me have fun with life! Can't ask for a better man! 

This year we didn't do anything super extravagant. We celebrated at home, among all of the homework and other things that were going on that day haha. Life doesn't stop when you want it to, but thats alright! We had a great day. Steve's gift to me were very thoughtful coupons for service and date nights for the whole year! You better believe I'll use those! My gift was planning our two year anniversary photo-shoot! (thanks Scott and Carisa for the camera!)

My Crazy Job Story

Toward the end of September I was ready to find a new job. Wells Fargo was so great, but it wasn't working out for Steve and I.  I didn't have the best transportation situation at all. The branch was in North Orem and we live in South Provo, so its a good 25 minute drive to work everyday. Steve had the car most of the time so I would have to bum rides off of people (mainly Jonathan and Ashley) or take the bus (bleh) Working for Wells Fargo was a good experience for me and I met a lot of great people! It was really fun at times but also stressful, but not nearly as bad a Tucanos on the stressful meter! Basically it just wasn't working out so I needed something closer for sure. So after a while I got lined up to work for an Allstate office that I had randomly looked into next to BYU campus. This is where it gets interesting....

I had put my two weeks in at the bank and was ready to work as a receptionist. I was very excited but also nervous. It was a kind of nervous that didn't feel good, but I went in trying to be positive. But the moment that I walked into my first day, it did NOT feel good. The agent brought both receptionists into his office for a meeting and I got the sense that he didn't treat his employees very well. The way he was talking to the other receptionist was very condecending and I was very unimpressed by that. He then started talking to me and what my responsiblities were, and it was A LOT different than what I had understood.  Basically I would be sales oriented and there was a lot of pressure in my position. That threw me off quite a bit because I was in a position that I wasn't informed about. But that's just part of the weirdness of the situation! Ever since I had been in that office I had this bad bad feeling in my gut like I wasn't supposed to be there! And after he told me about my job I started having a CRAZY battle with myself in my head. I needed to leave! But no! Thats insane because I just quit my other job for this job, and we REALLY need the income from me because Steve is working much less this semester. So it would be dumb for me to quit and be jobless! I tried to push those thoughts away and give it more of a chance (since I had only been there for 20 minutes!)  But then it just got worse, and I started to feel physically sick! Like I had to throw up! At this point I wasn't even listening to the guy and I just stopped him in mid sentence haha. I told him that wasn't feeling well and I needed to see a restroom. 

I just started crying in the bathroom, not knowing what to do. I knew what I had to do, but I didn't want to do it. But I decided that it was the spirit trying to get through to me, and tell me that this wasn't where I was supposed to be and it was time to go. So I went back to his office and told him that I wasn't feeling good and needed to go home. What he said was so weird. He said "Wow, I know I have that affect on people, but not that quickly." I then started to leave, and he asked me if I was pregnant! You don't just ask people that, especially if you are in a professional workplace. Grrr.

So I called Steve and he picked me up and I told him about everything, and he was so supportive! What a guy! I had just quit my old job, and had barley quit my new job, and he was so helpful in keeping my spirits up!

The next week I was applying to more jobs and trying to get a good lead on something, but it wasn't looking so great. Toward the end of the next week I randomly found this preschool ad on craigslist for a school that is super close to my house. So I just ran over there and asked about the position. It was for a preschool/kindergarden aid, and I just knew that this job would be great for me! It was so weird because one, I found the ad on craigslist (which no body in Utah uses). Two, the day I asked about the job was the last day to apply. Three, they close and lock the doors at 4 and I walked in at 4:10.

So I applied and was given an interview time for the next morning! After the interview I felt really great about this job and noticed that quite a few things really lined up for me to get to this interview.  They called me that afternoon and told me that I had the job!!!!! Within 24 hours I had a job that is literally a 5 minute walk, pays 10+ an hour, and that has the best working hours that I have ever had! The teacher told me that they needed someone fast because they were desperate for an assistant. And one of the reasons they hired me was because of my availability. Which was completley open because of what happened with Allstate job! Then it all clicked for me.

I went through that experience with Allstate so that I would be able to be available for this job. Had I not tried to do Allstate, I would have had to wait two weeks to finish my job at Wells Fargo for the preschool job, and may have not been hired. What a blessing!!

It was hard to have to quit my job on faith that I would find another one, but this experience has blessed me so much. I have learned to not ignore the spirit trying to communicate with you, and listen to its quiet promptings. Because if you don't it'll make itself known (aka, by making you sick haha) Not just that, but also to trust in the Lords plan for you. I had no idea what I was really quitting for, but I listened to the spirit and had faith that I would find a new one. And I did, a MUCH better one.

It has been going great at the school! I am hopefully starting to help make an impact on these children's lives, and help them know that they are great! 

Pretty much September....

Whew! September sure whizzed past us like there was no tomorrow! This has been a very interesting month for us to say the least. We are in the middle of transitioning into the Fall season and I am so loving it. I welcome the chill with arms wide open :) Hello boots, jackets, crunchy leaves, colorful mountains, and yummy Fall smells. Speaking of smells we bought a Scentsy! Its so cute and we got the Apple Cinnamon Pie scent for our main Scentsy, and it is Fall heaven in a wax cube. I feel like I'm walking through an apple orchard with the Fall chill blowing through the leaves.....seriously that smell does weird things to me. Love it though. 

To start September off, its Steve's last semester! I can tell he is very excited to start his career and start a new chapter of our lives! I am so proud of him, he works so hard for our little family and takes such good care of me. Doesn't he look so hot in this pic? I think so :) Also as of last week, his hard work as an intern for Stacy Witbeck has paid off! He was given an offer for a job once he graduates!!! We still don't know where we are going to end up after December and its driving me nuts, but I'm willing to wait it out a little while longer. It's made him a bit trunky now that he sees the end in sight for school, but he's still got his head in the game. Congrats Steve!

So...we've been addicted to sand volleyball. We go at least once, maybe twice a week! It's so much fun. We have been going to Vivint to play and the court is great. Ash and I are getting better too! At least I think...

We have also joined a soccer league! I know right, me playing soccer? That makes two sports a week that I am less than good at! We are super into it though and went all out and bought all our soccer gear (*cha-ching) I forget that when you pick up a new hobby it can be pricey, but we are in it with our friends and its good exercise! 

We did a who's-who thing on Facebook with this picture, and everyone got it wrong! Except for Jonathan. And Trevor copped out and claimed that it was a trick question and that we are the same person. Pfft! :P

So funny! We started kicking each other in the shins to see if the shin guards worked. It's pretty obvious we are amateurs.  

Trevor and Brandon are back from Texas! You would have never guessed that's where 

they were for the summer....we are glad to have them back though :)

We went to the temple yesterday! The evening glow was just perfect and it made the Temple so radiant, it was beautiful!
